Previous KKR commander Gautam Gambhir has picked the hitter he has “dreaded” the most in his IPL profession.
As Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hope to take on Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Arena in Mumbai, the tutor of the 2-time champions, Gautam Gambhir, opened up on his regard for Rohit Sharma. While Gambhir has faced probably the best hitters in the game during his dynamic days as a cricketer, particularly as the KKR captain, there is no player he has “dreaded” the most than Rohit Sharma. In a genuine visit with the IPL telecaster, Gambhir uncovered that he frequently needed to concoct various designs to prevent Rohit from scoring runs.
Gambhir, during his cricketing profession, needed to anticipate marquee players like Stomach muscle de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and so forth. Yet, it’s Rohit against whom he had the most troublesome times.
“The main batsman that I’ve dreaded is Rohit Sharma. The main hitter who has given me restless evenings… No Chris Gayle, no Stomach Muscle de Villiers, just Rohit. I generally realized I needed to have an Arrangement A, an Arrangement B, and likely an Arrangement C too, since, supposing that Rohit is in, I figure nothing have some control over him,” Gambhir told Star Sports.
“I’ve never made arrangements for some other hitter in the IPL aside from Rohit Sharma. There have been times where I had seen clear lines of sight and I said, ‘All good. Plan An is fine. In any case, for Rohit, one night before I used to suppose, on the off chance that this doesn’t work I need to get the other arrangement,” he further added.
In IPL 2024, Sunil Narine has arisen as a steady entertainer for KKR, both with the bat and the ball. While conceding that Narine versus Rohit is a fight that he has his eyes on, Gambhir likewise declared that he wants something beyond the 4 overs from the West Indian to hold Rohit under tight restraints.
“On the off chance that Sunil astonishes his four, who will bowl the following 16? What’s more, on the off chance that I polish off Sunil early and Rohit is there, he can hit 30 off one over. Presumably, he was the main hitter I dreaded as a chief,” he added.
